Cassandra's Back-story
This post contains spoilers for pretty much all DC comics canon in which Batgirl participated. Especially the eponymous run of Batgirl.

Cassandra Cain is the daughter of master assassin David Cain and Shiva Woo'san (who is widely regarded to be the most deadly woman alive). She was left in Cain's care while Shiva continued her own training.

Cain had some very interesting ideas about training people. What he wanted was the perfect human weapon, and he thought the best way to achieve that was to train someone to read body language fluently. He realized that in order to do that, he would need to begin training before the language centers of the brain could stabilize, and that meant he needed a child.

Cassandra wasn't Cain's first attempt, though she was the first (and only) child to both survive the training and remain (relatively) sane. Cain's methods of teaching were pretty brutal. He raised Cassandra in an environment where no one every talked to her, forcing her to recognize movements as a form of communication. He constantly tested her against various opponents.

Further, in order to "keep her on her toes" and help her develop her situational awareness, Cain would shoot Cassandra randomly. He also used guns to increase Cassandra's tolerance for pain by playing a variation of "two for flinching".

Eventually, Cain decided that the time had come to test Cassandra for real, and at the age of eight he sent her on her first assassination. This ended up backfiring. Cassandra located her target, took out his bodyguards, and then ripped out his throat, but... She saw him die, and that meant that she understood exactly what she had done.

So she ran, fleeing from Cain and unable to forget the horror of what she had done.

There's more, which I may one day actually add, but this is the stuff that shaped Cassandra most strongly.

From where are you taking Cassandra in canon? After the end of her comic series?

Oh, right, that would be a rather useful bit of information, wouldn't it... The answer is yes. She walks off at the end of the Batgirl run and after some time wandering (weeks/months/it's handwavey), she wanders into Fandom.

I'm going to go put that in the profile.

Oh boy will she ever. "Hey, didn't I kill you? And, daddy? I thought I told you I never wanted to see you again."

I was actually thinking the same thing, but I have no idea how she'd react to that. I mean, she totally thinks she left that life behind... Wow that'd be fun ;)

OH! You should check with Namine's mun. Cafe Fina? It used to be owned by Alfred Pennyworth and there's a mini-batcave underneath it.

Okay, now that's pretty awesome. I shall have to make a note to check in. There are all sorts of possibilities rolling around in my head now...

!!! Speaking of "rolling around", I'm pretty sure the mini-Batcave comes complete with a giant penny she might recognize.

Hiya! Café Fina is made of win, and Naminé opens it on Tuesdays and, uh, whenever else I feel like.

Lumiere's mun has more snifty info about Fina, though, probably. I'll point her this way. (Lumiere was the next owner of Fina, but he left; the player's still in the game, though, with other peeps.)

Wow... The best part is that I haven't actually had to do any work on this yet. This plays to my inherent laziness, and I approve... ;)

Isn't inherent laziness great? :) I'm the one who played Lumiere before he ran off to make sure his master would stop snarling at the Avon lady, or whatever he was doing to ensure that the spell wasn't broken, and here, I've a few tidbits about the Batcave (and the people upstairs who would be leading you down to it, with Namine's permission.)

- The batcave was fully-functional when the volcano was set off upstairs which unveiled it. Inside was quite a random mishmash of stuff, a la this picture.

- Lumiere's eyes lit up in delight, and then began the long, arduous process of building a stairway (out of burned cake in the shape of tetris blocks, it's sturdier than you might think) down to the batcave shiny brand new WINE CELLAR!

- Practically everything that was in the Batcave when the ceiling collapsed is still down there. Lumiere thought that it added a sort of rustic charm. Or modern flair. Or something. It's clear that he's not from around here, in any case. It might have been rearranged slightly to account for row upon row upon for of booze, glorious booze, but it's down there, and the contents are moddable, if you figure it should be there but it isn't in the picture. (I doubt there would be a Batmobile, but if the need absolutely arises and you can clear zipping around town in it with the mods, then hey, who am I to argue?)

- The NPC staff of Fina would probably be happy to show it off to you. The Cheese-grater is especially accommodating, especially if you challenge the quality of the wine-list. But you should probably clear it with Namine's mun up there, too. :)

- Alfred-Mun! did mention something about moddable booby traps here and there. I imagine most of them were accidentally set off and mostly just an inconvenience to the staff of Fina while they were fitting the place to be a wine cellar. They're not much of an issue to people who are turning into knives and things that can burn stuff.

If you can think of anything else, let me know, and I'll try to clarify what I can. :) The BatWineCellarCave went mostly unexplored while Lumiere had his run in the game, sadly.

Mmm... lazy!

Okay, the rusty ol' plot-gears are turning now. Thanks muchly for the information. I'll toss some ideas around, talk to some people, and we'll certainly see what comes of it all. Yay!
